Here are some brief summaries from our evening's entertainment throughout 2011
Thursday 6 October 2011
A wonderful evening with Dawn Cameron-Dick and her One Woman Quilt Show. Lots of “oohs” and “aahs” as Dawn talked us through her quilting progress over more years than we care to think about. Barbara and Hilary were just about trained up as quiltholders by the end of the evening! We were delighted also to see Dawn’s new book – a pocket reference which looks set to be a best-seller. Look for reports on Dawn’s workshops on Angie Whiston’s blog http://angiequilts.blogspot.com – a good time was most definitely had by all. Tori from ZigZags had brought an excellent selection of material goodies to tempt us – at our November meeting it will be the turn of Alison from Pollyanna Patchwork to provide the retail therapy.
Our committee members were sporting their new badges – thanks again to Tori for these. We’re seriously considering having a “Dogsbody” badge which could be transferable for the noble volunteers who help pack away at the end of the evening.
Ann Jermey is the speaker at our November meeting – Ann is well-known to SPQ members and it is sure to be a good evening. We will also have the 2012 programme available, sign up sheets for our 30th Birthday Celebration in March and our adventure to Quiltfest in Llangollen in February.
You can now find us on Facebook and keep up with our news and several of our number have blogs which you may find of interest –

Thursday 1 September 2011
The first meeting of our autumn programme, saw Staffs Ps and Qs enjoying a fascinating, fast-paced presentation of awesome quilts fromFerret. Ferret is internationally known for her innovative and technically accomplished quilting and it was a wonderful opportunity to hear some of the background and see her work at close quarters - thoroughly recommended! We are now planning an “outing” to Quiltfest in Llangollen next February so that we can meet up with her and cause havoc at her working gallery there – details of this trip will be available later. Many of us will be following her quilting adventures via her blog Ferret Fabricates.
April 7th 2011 - Claire Tinsley
61 members attended, several new to SPQ which is always a pleasure. Excellent Tea and Coffee service to start us off (Thanks to Angie & Jenny) and a wonderful talk from award winning quilter Claire Tinsley of Hannah's Room - lots of amazing quilts to see up close - a real treat.
We're all looking forward to the Quilts and Embroidery Show (formerly Quilts in the Garden) at Uttoxeter Racecourse on 15th - 17th April. An experienced team from SPQ does set up and take down as well as manning our stand and generally spreading the word.
We hope to see you there! If you are interested in attending any of our meetings, please come along and say Hello! and find out more about us.
