This year sees the first of what we hope will be many Chairman's challenges.
At our September 2011 meeting, we were asked to pick up a challenge pack which contained a Fat Quarter (FQ) of solid black fabric and the following instructions:
Chairman’s Challenge 2011
Our entries to the Chairman's Challenge - Well done to everyone who submitted a piece - they were all beautiful!
The rules:
Your piece must show some black fabric on the front – you do not need to use the full fat quarter (it could even be just the binding if you choose to make a small piece).
Maximum finished size is 36” square, minimum size is A4
You may use any technique or combination of techniques eg appliqué, piecing, quilting, embroidery, felting, beading, hand or machine stitching or a combination of both
Finished pieces should have the completed fabric label securely attached to the back.
Delivery date – Thursday 1 December, at the SPQ Christmas meeting.
All entries delivered will be displayed (anonymously) at this meeting.
All entries delivered will be considered winners –
one or two silly prizes may be awarded at the Chairman’s discretion.
The real challenge goes like this:
Work out or remember what your initials are – eg ABC
Assign a colour to each initial
so A could be Amethyst, or Apple green, or Azure,
B could be Burgundy, or Beige, or Brown
and C could be Cherry red, Clover pink, Chrome yellow and so on.
(There’s a starter crib sheet to help you think up your colours)
When you’ve made your choice that’s the colour palette you will be working with – plus that all-important dash of black….
Happy stitching!
