Staffordshire Patchworkers and Quilters

Welcome!

Last Meeting

Thursday 6 October  2011

A wonderful evening with Dawn Cameron-Dick and her One Woman Quilt Show. Lots of “oohs”  and “aahs”  as Dawn talked us through her quilting progress over more years than we care to think about.  Barbara and Hilary were just about trained up as quiltholders by the end of the evening!  We were delighted also to see Dawn’s new book – a pocket reference which looks set to be a best-seller. Look for reports on Dawn’s workshops on Angie Whiston’s bloghttp://angiequilts.blogspot.com – a good time was most definitely had by all.  Tori from ZigZags had brought an excellent selection of material goodies to tempt us – at our November meeting it will be the turn of Alison from Pollyanna Patchwork to provide the retail therapy.

Our committee members were sporting their new badges – thanks again to Tori for these.  We’re seriously considering having a “Dogsbody” badge which could be transferable for the noble volunteers who help pack away at the end of the evening.

Ann Jermey is the speaker at our November meeting – Ann is well-known to SPQ members and it is sure to be a good evening.  We will also have the 2012 programme available, sign up sheets for our 30th Birthday Celebration in March and our adventure to Quiltfest in Llangollen in February.

You can now find us on Facebook and keep up with our news and several of our number have blogs which you may find of interest –

About Us

We are a group of people who share an interest in all things Patchwork and Quilting; making, collecting and their history.

We meet the first Thursday of every month except January and August, at Walton Community Centre, Whitemill Lane, Stone, STAFFS, ST15 0QE at 6.45pm for a 7.15pm start.

There is ample parking next to the centre and disabled access.

No membership is required. Admission for 2011 is £4.00. Just pay at the door and come in and enjoy a cuppa and biscuit, show and tell, plenty of chat, and the evening’s speaker or activity. If you feel lucky have a go at the raffle which is drawn on the night.

We usually run two workshops during the year which are held at Swynnerton Village Hall and bookings are taken at the monthly meetings (a deposit is usually required to secure your place). We also arrange occasional coach trips to shows like Quilts UK at Malvern and the Quilt Museum in York.

Please take a few minutes to browse our site and if you have any questions or suggestions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

See you soon!
